• I am Timothy Omara from Uganda.  Under the Africa Center of Excellence II in Phytochemicals, Textile and Renewable Energy (ACE II PTRE) Moi University (Kenya) scholarship, I have attained a Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry degree.   This fellowship has afforded me an opportunity to meet and collaborate with people from different parts of the world. With these connections, I have published over 35 research articles across 23 peer reviewed journals. The interactive academic atmosphere and the full-time support of the University and the Scholarship Center has made the degree cursus quite enjoyable. It is my sincere hope that this degree will enable me to have a positive impact on the East African community.

Programmes within ACEII PTRE project


Doctoral Programmes

ACEII PTRE Center has admitted 41 students and offered scholarships to undertake the following Doctoral Programmes. The project targets to admit at least 30 students however this has been surpassed. The students are from Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Kenya.

The Center has the following Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes:

  1. Ph.D in Energy Studies.
  2. Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry.
  3. Ph.D in Material & Textile Engineering.
  4. Ph.D in Industrial Engineering.

Masters Programmes

The Center targets to enrol at least 60 Masters students and has currently admitted 100 students from Rwanda, Uganda, Malawi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia, Sudan and Kenya.
