I am Meseret Biazen Belete, from Ethiopia, and currently undertaking a master degree in Energy study, Department of Mechanical, Production and Energy Engineering sponsored under African centre of excellence in phytochemicals, textiles and renewable energy (ACEII- PTRE) scholarship. I found it very essential and helpful in building capacity in academics and all aspects of life as well. Since I joined MOI University, Kenya, I have been using my ultimate power trying to be the best version of myself. This is because (luckily) the lecturers, the staffs in the centre and anybody that I have met in this university and outside the campus always driving me with positive energy. And also I have got chances to participate in different conferences, trainings and workshops; helps me to interact with scholars and gain experiences from them. I am hopeful that this experience will enable me to be part of the team who have a positive impact on the technology and development of Africa.
My name is Abigael Jepchirchir. I am a Kenyan, currently undertaking a Master of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry at Moi University, School of Sciences and Aerospace Studies. My postgraduate education is funded under the Africa Centre of Excellence in Phytochemicals, Textile and Renewable Energy (ACE II – PTRE) scholarship. Being a Master of Science student under ACE II-PTRE has given me a chance to receive a competitive grant from Lorraine Universite d’ Excellence (LUE), France, for an internship programme which will take 6 months.
This scholarship (internship programme at LUE), has given me a golden opportunity to obtain a handful of skills in Analytical Chemistry as well as interact with researchers from my field of study. In the course of my study, I am working under Philippe Gerardin, Director of LERMAB, LUE; Prof. Ambrose Kiprop and Dr. Sarah Chepkwony of Moi University and Prof. Francis Mburu of Maasai Mara University. Currently, I hold a Bachelor of Science with Education (Chemistry / Physics) from Moi University. The collaboration between Moi University and LUE will positively impact many scholars in future.
